5 Questions to Consider When Booking a Live Wedding Band

So, you have a wedding coming up – congratulations on the big day! Getting married is one of the most important steps of your life, and we know that you want it to run smoothly and be memorable for all the right reasons. The first thing you should want on your wedding day is to have trustworthy entertainment, and this is why brides and grooms put so much time and effort into planning their wedding day. We take weddings very seriously and work hand in hand with couples to ensure no stone is left unturned.

If you are planning on having a live wedding band for your wedding, you’ve made a great decision. Live wedding bands can add anything from mood and ambience during wedding cocktails or energy and excitement to your wedding reception. Before the big day arrives, there are a number of key considerations for you to think about when planning the music. To ensure everything runs smoothly on your big day, we have put together a list of questions to consider when using a Toronto wedding band for your reception:

1. Can my wedding venue accommodate a live band?

Before you start your search for a wedding band in Toronto, you need to make sure that your venue can accommodate a live musical performance. Talk with your wedding venue about how they can accommodate the band and discuss the logistics of the evening. Although we have considerable experience with adapting to various situations. Certain venues will naturally be more conducive over others for live musical performances.

2. How far in advance do I need to book the band?

This is one of the most common questions asked by our wedding couples. To ensure you secure your wedding band, it is recommended to book them as soon as you know you want them to play. Being among the top Toronto wedding bands, we book up quickly.

3. When do you want the band to arrive and set up?

Depending on the itinerary for your wedding and the size of the performing act, you may want the wedding band to set up before guests arrive or have the band set up after the meal is served. Keep in mind that it can take several hours for a larger band with production to set up. Having the band set up prior to the guests arriving is always the best course of action, as this will also give us the chance to do a sound check and make sure everything is working correctly.

4. Where will the band play? Does the venue have a stage?

Try to envision the band playing. If the venue doesn’t have a stage, do you want them to play at the front of the room? Off to the side? The venue will typically have a recommendation for this. Also make sure to consider the size of the band and how much space they will need when planning room decorations.

5. What time should the band perform? How long will they perform for?

Do you want the band to play one long set? Do you want them to play a number of sets? If so, how many? Do you want them to play during the reception? Do you have a schedule in mind? Talk to us about the logistics and timing of the performances throughout the night. Many bands will also offer some background music to play over the speakers during breaks and to fill gaps throughout the evening. However, for a bigger and better team we offer DJ services to maximize your wedding entertainment. This ensures a professional will be handling every aspect of the music when we are not on stage.
