The Marc Joseph Band making waves

Beginning to carve a niche for themselves on stages throughout the GTA is Brampton-based band The Marc Joseph Band. Five young musicians have all come together from different projects to form this versatile, crowd pleasing, cover band. The band is fronted by talented vocalist Marcos Ravera, who lends both his extensive range of vocals as well as his name to the band. Each member of this five piece band brings their own musical aptness and stage presence to their shows.

Guitarist Andy Melo of Brampton plays as if he has generations of musical experience behind him despite being only 19. He often gains the admiration of anyone in the crowd who has every picked up a guitar as he rocks out to the likes of Jimi Hendrix. Bass player Dave Ongena of Brampton explains that although they are young they bring over 60 years of cumulative music experience to their shows and an energy and crowd interaction not easily matched. Each member has great admiration for the next, of drummer Dave Meffe, Ongena explains he is truly something phenomenal, holding the sets together with his timing on drums.

Their set list takes on everything from classic rock, Latino and reggae to funk and pop with a vitality that is palpable throughout the crowd. The djembe played by James McDonald adds a unique vibe to the show, completing their impressive Latin set. With a versatile repertoire of songs, this band can have the crowd singing and swinging to the likes of Prince, Bob Marley, Kings of Leon, Los Lobos and the Gipsy Kings, as well as to some of their own original material.

The Marc Joseph Band will be playing a show this Saturday, July 31, at 10 p.m. aboard the Stella Borealis, with partial proceeds going to an U14 Bolton Boys Soccer Team. Tickets as well as information are available by calling 647-969-4320.
